was born on January 6, 1893, in the village of Lasuri (Kutaisi province). From 1913, he was performing in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Baku theatres. In 1919-1920, he was studying in a drama studio under the guidance of Giorgi Jabadari. In 1921-1922 and 1936-1939, he was an artist at Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli Theatre and an artist and producer in the Georgian cinema studio. From 1927, he was a production director at Armenkino. In 1942-1948, Mikheil Gelovani was an actor of the Moscow Gorki Academy Theatre. In 1954-1956, he was an actor at the All-Union Cinema Actors Studio Theatre. He played the role of Stalin in fifteen films. People’s Artist of the USSR (1950).
