The film is based on a play of the same name by Nino Nakashidze.
Siko, a young farmer from western Georgia, joins a group of riders who leave for America in the hope of becoming rich. The ‘rider from the Wild West’ later returns home to find that his child has died and that his wife is pregnant with their neighbour’s baby. In despair, Siko sets the house on fire and dies.
