A young worker of the oil pipeline Lado is accused of negligence and is demoted to work in the wrought iron workshop. After having mended the pipeline, the chiefs of the working brigades launch the Socialist Competition. After a while a loss of the main detail is detected. The chief of the second working brigade is accused of the wrongdoing, though later the truth comes out that revengeful Lado is responsible for the theft. The joint meeting of the plant demands to fire Lado, but on the recommendation of the master Lado stays in the plant. The Socialist Competition also turns out to be a success.
