Karaman (Guguli) Mgeladze was born on May 12, 1928. In 1951, he graduated from Moscow State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) where he studied acting. In 1962, he completed his studies in filmmaking at the same institute. In 1966, his short feature film “Burti da moedani” (Ball and Field) was granted a diploma at the first Sport Film Festival in Moscow. He got a second diploma at the Asian and African All Union Festival in Tashkent for the film “Gatenebis tsin” (Before Dawn) made in 1971–1972.

He died on November 29, 2015.
