Aleksandre, a war veteran, and his brigade that consists of three inexperienced young men work at the hydro power plant construction site. They share a room at workers dormitory. Young men lack the necessary discipline and experience so they are much dependant on Aleksandre and work ethic. When Gerasime, one of the young man, dies in an accident his friends decide to quit too but Aleksandre manages to persuade them to stay before they finish the house that they started together with Gerasime.
