was born on October 2, 1934, in Tbilisi. In 1958, he graduated from Tbilisi Polytechnic Institute majoring in geology. In 1974, he finished his studies in cinematography at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow under A.Tamerin and A. Galperin. From 1961 onward, he worked at Kartuli Filmi (Georgian Film Studio). In 1984, he was awarded the honorary title of Peoples Artist of Georgia. Lomer Akhvlediani was a recipient of a special prize in cinematography at Cairo International Film Festival (1978), the Shota Rustaveli state award (1979), and Lenin Prize (1986). He died on February 11, 2022 in Tbilisi.
