Sofiko, the sister of a provincial doctor, Benjamin Glonti decides to introduce his brother to beautiful Mary, the daughter of the famous healer, Levan Tsintsadze. Mary reveals to Benjamen that she loves the bankrupt Prince Alex and is expecting a baby from him. The lovers run away, Alex is killed in a fight at the station, and Mary dies during the childbirth. Levan, devastated by grief, finds out he has an incurable disease. He gathers his friends and holds a farewell party. Levan asks Benjamin to take care of the newborn after his death.
