In order to collect the fees, the Mongol Commander Argun Noin together with King Demetre II is travelling trough the Georgian villages. As a sign of his benevolence Noin marries the King’s sister Tamar. In exchange he leaves his under-aged daughter as the King’s third wife. Because of overdue payment of fees Noin’s army plunders 40 Georgian villages. People curse King Demetre for his subservience to Noin and for practicing polygamy. Dimitri decides to go to the monastery as a monk. However his long time caretaker reminds Demetre about his responsibility before the country. Soon, the word gets about that Kaen killed Noin and now invites his "devoted friend" Demetre to visit the capital. The Georgian king is advised to stay. Demetre is well aware that in case he stays, the innocent people will suffer from Kaen. As soon as he arrives, Kaen beheads him.
