There are 200 mosques and madrasahs in Georgia. 1,5 millions out of its 4,5 million population are Moslems. As an Arab historian of 12th century Ahmad Al Farrick says "Here in Georgia King David the Builder honored the Moslem scientists, theologians and Sufis in the way even the Moslems themselves had never honored." The Mosque of Tbilisi is the only place in the world where the Shiites and Sunnites pray together. Such is the Georgians’ ethnic, confessional and historical past.
