The film tells about Georgian student Aslan living in Russia in the XIX century. Aslan is in love with the young woman and thinks about getting married. Then his fiancé falls in love with a different man. Aslan kills a rival and flees to the Caucasus. Here he gets married and survives by smuggling goods. One day, in a conflict with the sailors he is wounded. He is forced to leave his family for a while but upon his return, he discovers that his famly had been kidnapped by the captain of the ship. Devastated Aslan throws himself into the sea. However, the waves swept him away to the uninhabited island where he finds a human skeleton and treasure in a cave. He remembers a legend of an old mad man who lured the ships toward the island to be wrecked on the underwater reefs. Aslan too is seized by desire of revenge and one day, just exactly as it happens in the legend, a ship sinks off the coast of the island. Aslan finds his wife’s dead body and fainted daughter in the wreckage. Aslan and his daughter, his only hope in old age live all alone on the island. However, his daughter falls in love with a sailor who is washed up on the island by chance and leaves her father. Devastated Aslan drowns himself in the sea.
