was born on May 31, 1892, in Yerevan. His real name was Ambartsum Nazaryan. In 1914, he started working under the pseudonym of Amo-Bec in Yaroslav Libken’s studio. From 1915, he worked for Moscow, Petersburg, and Kharkiv film studios. In 1918, he graduated from the Moscow Commercial Institute. In 1921, he arrived in Tbilisi. He was appointed director of the cinema department of the People’s Commissariat for Education and then – the director of Sakhkinmretsvi. He worked as a producer. The roles in the films of Evgeni Bauer, Ivane Perestiani, and Vladimir Gardin brought great success to him. In 1925, he was invited to work as a director of the newly organized cinema department in Yerevan. In 1926, he produced the first Armenian film “Conscience”. In 1966, the film studio “Armenfilm” was named after Amo Bec-Nazarov
