The film starts with a panoramic view of the Dry Bridge, the flea market in Tbilisi. A drunkard eccentric known as Barona attempts to sell an old scarf as quickly as possible in order to buy himself a drink. While making the scarf attractive to a foreigner, Barona invents dramatic stories: the scarf features in romantic episodes from the 19th century, the beginning of the 20th and the WW2. The history of the country is reflected in these imaginary stories, which are enacted in the film. In the end Barona believes in the reality of his own inventions.
