In Georgia, in the 1960s pop music performers had two goals: nationwide popularity and international recognition.  While talent is enough to achieve popularity, it is also necessary to gain international fame. Here one has to remember that Georgia was one of the provinces of the Soviet Empire, which reduced the chances of getting to international festivals abroad.
