The film depicts the story of a young worker Garun, a son of the revolutionary killed in 1905 who is arrested for distribution of antigovernment proclamations. With the help of his friends, he escapes from the prison and continues revolutionary activities. His speeches find support among the workers and soldiers of the Tzar’s regular army. In the village Garuni meets with a local teacher Ala, who shares his ideas. Ala becomes actively involved in revolutionary fight. The Tzar’s okhrana (secret police) agents hunt Garun down but he manages to flee every time. After the October revolution, the workers and peasants in Georgia rise against counterrevolutionary forces. Ala dies in a fight among many others. At Ala’s dead body Garun makes promise to fight for freedom of the working people till victorious end.
