The film is dedicated to the anniversary of the famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich held in 2002 in Japan. At 75 Maestro decided to perform Don Quixote by Richard Strauss for the last time and thus bid farewell to his favourite hero - the hidalgo de La Mancha.
The film consists of two parts..
The first shows the master-class where Maestro Rostropovich emotionally explains how the immortal work of Cervantes is recreated in the symphony.
The second part of the film presents the concert conducted by Seiji Ozawa.
