Georgian kolkhoz worker travel to Ukraine’s Ganichesk Kolkhoz for an experience-sharing mission. Following the agronomist Magda’s initiative, they take a fertile Georgian soil with them to plant a Friendship Garden. While still in Ganichesk, Magda is visited by her son Giorgi who fells in love with the Ukrainian girl named Maria. They marry but soon the war starts and Giorgi is killed. Maria dies too. Magda is left alone with her grandson and the Friendship Garden project that she proposed to build.
