After his father’s death in WWII young Gia Betaneli also decides to go to the front. Instead, Gia gets the assignment to work at the Donbas military plant. Nana, who gets no response to her letters, thinks that Gia also died. After many years of absence Gia arrives and starts working at the metallurgical factory. Unexpectedly he encounters Nana in the family of his new friend Tamaz. After a long psychological struggle with himself Gia decides that he has no right to ruin young couple’s lives.
