Giorgi Chokheli, a shepherd, is in love with a local teacher Nino who in turn is charmed by Levan Gelashvili, a newly appointed social worker. Without taking into account the local shepherds’ knowledge and experience Levan orders to plow the winter pastures thus risking the life of the herd. To avoid punishment he attempts to bribe Giorgi. The latter refuses and on his turn forces Levan to marry already pregnant Nino. Nino in her turn, refuses to have anything to do with Levan. Instead she is hopeful that Giorgi will take care of her and her child.
