Born in 1954. In 1977 she graduated from the faculty of Western European language and literature, English language and literature of the State University of Tbilisi and in 1983 from the faculty of film direction of the State Institute of theatre and film of Georgia (workshop of Tengiz Abuladze and Rezo Chkheidze). Marina Gegenava has been working at the "Mematiane" film studio since 1985.
