The basis of the film was a short story "Dance before us" by John Galsworthy. This film is a history of a dancer’s last evening, who betrayed motherland and gave the secret information to the enemies. The court sentenced her to be shot and the military men brought her to the convent where she had to stay till morning. The dancer – a girl without faith and love, who cannot even pray and refused say a confession, meets a mother superior who offers her to dance in a refectory in the evening.
