Jilin, the officer of the Czar’s army departs the Caucasus to visit his mother. He and the other officer Kostilin get caught by the mountain people and hid them in the village demanding a ransom. Dina, a mountain girl furtively feeds them. Jilin wins confidence in the village and tries to flee the place together with Kostilin but they get caught again and thrown in the dug-hole. The desperate captives learn from Dina, that their captors plan to execute them. The girl helps Jilin to get out the hole and flee the village.
