Because of overdue fees Prince Tsitsishvili summons Arsena’s father and cuts off his ear. Arsena vows to pay back for his father’s humiliation. Serfs oppressed by the Prince take Arsena’s side and the conflict grows into an all out rebellion. Prince Tsitsishvili brings in the unit of Cossacks who carry out the punitive operation in the village. A bribed peasant Parsadan betrays Arsena who gets locked up in jail. Ostujev, a Decembrist, organizes Arsena’s getaway from jail. Arsena’s group of rebels is defeated by the Cossacks. Arsena gets killed by Parsadan.
