To stop the spread of malaria in Samegrelo, the government decides to drain a swamp by digging a canal. Two of the peasants working on the canal, Kavtara and Gvadi, are lured into the swamp by the rich peasant Parna, but at the last minute some members of the Young Communist League come to their rescue and save their lives.
