Saba, a tram driver, is wasting his salary on drink. His wife and son try hard to make him change his lifestyle, but in vain. His son keeps looking for his father in taverns, and Saba ends up losing his job because of his alcoholism. One day Saba steals a tram and drives it at high speed through the city streets, accidentally running over his own son. A court finds the whole community guilty of the accident, and rules that taverns be forbidden in workers’ districts.
