The station master shelters Gogi, whose parents were killed during an earthquake in the town of Gori. Gogi later finds his friend Kiko in the rubble and saves his life. Kiko is taken to Tbilisi for treatment. Gogi, worried about his friend, goes to Tbilisi to find him. While in Tbilisi, Gogi lives by cleaning people’s shoes and frequently visits his friend in hospital. After the October Revolution, the two orphans start studying at the Art School.
